All customers must complete an Acknowledgment of Risk Form before climbing at The Overhang. The form can be completed online before arriving or on one of the terminals in the Centre. Every time you use The Overhang, please let us know that you have arrived by checking in at reception. Non-climbers / spectators must not go into any of the climbing areas unless directly supervised by a registered adult climber and must not climb on any of the walls.
A booking will not be confirmed until full payment of the total booking is received.
Payment can be made either at the time of booking or at the Centre. If the booking is cancelled with 24 hours or less to go until the commencement of the activity, the payment in non-refundable. Payment can be made in the form of cash/card at the Climbing Centre or by card using the online booking system or over the phone.
If for any reason The Overhang has to cancel the booking we will try to offer an alternative date but in the event that this is unsatisfactory to the customer a full refund will be given. Cancellations made by the customer must be received by The Overhang more than 24 hours before the commencement of the activity, only then will a refund be paid.
Covid - 19
There may be times when the Centre will have to close under government guidelines and if this does happen we will freeze all active memberships. Once we are able to re-open safely, we will re-start customer memberships.
Track And Trace
In line with guidelines, in the event of a confirmed Covid-19 case within our facilities, we will be asked to share customer data for those who were in the building for that specific period. If you do not want your data used in this way then unfortunately you will not be able to use the centre facilities at this time.
The Overhang will not accept liability for personal injury sustained by participants during activities. The Overhang will not accept responsibility for any customer possessions. They are the sole responsibility of the customer. Personal belongings are left at the owners’ risk. Items left in the Overhang overnight will be kept in lost property and retained for one month. Unclaimed items are passed on to local charities or sold in the Centre as second hand.
Customers should behave in a responsible manner and any instructions given by The Overhang staff must be adhered to at all times. Any customers behaving abusive or causing a nuisance will be excluded from the activity and asked to leave. The Overhang will not accept any responsibility for any liability arising from a customer's failure to comply with the terms and conditions. No refunds may be repaid. Aggressive or abusive behaviour towards staff or other customers and / or wilful damage to The Overhang’s equipment will not be tolerated.
Clothing and footwear
The Overhang has a no shirts off policy throughout the centre. This applies to the bouldering area and all socialising spaces. Climbing shoes must be worn at all times whilst climbing, no bare feet. Only climbing shoes/trainers are allowed on the walls.
Food and drink
No food or drink shall be taken into the climbing areas. Only food and drink purchased from the café may be consumed in the café seating area. We are happy for you to bring your own food and drink but we ask that you sit in the other seating areas or the outside seating area.
Background music is played throughout the Centre and we understand that not everyone likes the same music but personal music must not be played unless using headphones.
Drugs and alcohol
Any customer found to be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs (or in possession of illegal drugs) will be excluded from activities. The Overhang reserves the right to exclude a customer and a refund may not be payable.
Before a customer is permitted to take part in the activities, they must complete the waiver form indicating any issues that could prevent them from taking part. The Overhang reserves the right to refuse participation if we feel the customer is not considered to be fit or well enough to continue with the activity.
Supervision of minors
Groups containing minors must be supervised by their group leaders or parent/guardian at all times. The Overhang will only be responsible for the instruction of the activity. There is a strict 2:1 child to parent ratio, so one adult can supervise two young climbers. This includes children who are not climbing.
14-17 years unsupervised climbing
We do allow 14-17 year olds to climb unsupervised in the centre but they must have previously completed a belay course (rope climbing only) or must already be competent in belaying and attended a sign-off session with an instructor. For bouldering only, the 14-17 year old will be assessed during the sign-off session. An adult must be present at the sign-off session and once the waiver has been signed by the parent/guardian, the 14-17 year old can climb at the centre unsupervised.
Weather (Outdoor Activities)
Overhang activities will take place in most weather conditions but in some cases the activities will have to be cancelled. If this is the case, we will try to reschedule or offer the client a full refund.
We sometimes take photos and videos of customers for the sole use of The Overhang’s publicity and marketing material. Notices will be displayed and permission sought during filming and photography sessions but if you wish not to be caught on camera, please come and tell a member of staff during these events.
